Ride With Confidence Pro Scooter rider Jamie Hull pushes the limits when he wears Tortoise Pads. TESTIMONIALS “Tortoise Pads are without a doubt the most superior padded shorts I’ve ever worn. As a vertical skateboarder over 40 years old, I take falls from huge heights to my hips and tail bone. Tortoise Pads keeps me being able to do what I love. The padding is stronger than any of the other five brands I’ve tried over many years and Tortoise are very comfortable and do not restrict my mobility which is key. They also let you customize the thickness of the pads the way you like. Perfect engineering and design.” – Adam Effertz "These pads are perfect for snowboarding. I'm finally off the bunny hills but I still crash on my butt every run when I push myself. There's no way I could've progressed so quickly without these pads and I won't go without them. The thing that I found that differentiates Tortoise Pads is that they're the only pads that have full butt protection. As for the overall performance of the pads, these guys nailed it! I've been crashing in these things every way possible for the past 2 months and I haven't even had a slight bruise, I really can't think of any improvements." - Jeff Beck THE TORTOISE PADS STORY Family owned and run. Tortoise Pads was conceived when the founder, Keith Jacobson (pictured left), decided to start skateboarding at age 55 because he wanted to hang out with his 12-year-old son at the skate park. For him having the best pads was not an option, it was a necessity. He quickly found out that the sports industry was severely lacking in quality, high impact hip and butt pads. That’s when he started making his own. Keith spent months in his garage designing and modifying his padded shorts. He used his experience as a material science engineer to developed his multi-density foam configuration. The result was a product that provides both high-level protection and comfort. Keith carefully selected the pad shapes and placement to give the user a complete range of motion with maximum coverage. Tortoise Pads is dedicated to making sure that you are protected, no matter what sport you participate in. We’re working OUR butts off to save YOURS. MORE ABOUT OUR T2 IMPACT PROTECTION PADDED SHORTS MULTIPLE LAYERS OF PROTECTION Our T2 impact protection shorts contain a uniquely engineered Multi-Density High Impact EVA foam configuration which gives greater protection while reducing overall pad thickness. The denser layers of foam dissipate and absorb more of the impact’s energy. The softer layers provide cushioning as well as additional protection between you and the ground. BREATHABLE MESH SHORTS WITH MAX-DRI MOISTURE MANAGEMENT POCKETS Tortoise Pads impact protection shorts are made from a durable Nylon-Spandex power mesh fabric that maximizes airflow and provides great breathability. The Poly-Spandex pockets have MAX-DRI Moisture Management Technology. The MAX-DRI technology has enhanced fibers with excellent wicking capabilities that pull moisture away from both your skin and the power mesh shorts. This fabric will aid in the evaporation and cooling process and will help keep you dry and comfortable in hot conditions. FLEXIBLE MULTI-LAYER DESIGN Our multiple layer design and durable spandex pockets allow our foam to constantly reshape to your body, creating pads that move the way you do.
T2 Padded Shorts come with 7 multi-layer/multi-density pads that are held in seven pockets on the back and sides of the shorts. The pockets are designed to allow minimal spacing between the pads. This provides excellent coverage of the glutes, sacrum and coccyx (tailbone), hips and upper side leg areas. See the Tortoise Pads T3 Three-Pad Padded Shorts for just tailbone and glute coverage.
【Customizable Pad Thickness】 - All sizes come with a 5/8" thick pad configuration. The inner layer of padding is the softest and the outer layer is the firmest. See the image gallery for some of our recommended layer configurations. 【Warning】 The tailbone pad should not be reduced to a total thickness of less than 1/2”, and the glute pads should not be reduced to a total thickness of less than 3/8”.
【Flexible Multi-Layer Design】 - Our multiple layer design allows our foam to constantly flex and reshape, creating pads that move the way you do. 【High Quality Foam】 - Our high impact pads are made from premium grade orthopedic foams. 【Extra Strong Waist Band】- We use a wide 1.5" jacquard elastic waistband combined with a draw cord to help ensure that the shorts and pads don't slip down during use.

These Tortoise Pads are EVERYTHING! They say the bigger you get, the harder you fall. In my case, as soon as I put on the roller skates...the taller you get, the harder and faster you fall. One moment you're skating and in a split second you're on the ground...OUCHIE! I haven't skated for years and I'm talking over 18 and my kids recently picked up the hobby and love for skating so what does a Daddy do? He buys his own pair, puts them on and skates with the kids because it means the world to them. I'm just not as physically adapt to falling as I used to be LOL. So what else does Daddy do? Search for butt pads! I've done it all. I've gone to Dick's sporting goods, SportsMart, Sports Challet and Big 5 of course you'd find all kinds of pads right? Right, but they were generally meant for specific sports (football, baseball, hockey, etc...). Each had their own level of protection catered to the types of impacts received. Hockey (street or ice) was the best out of all them of course but the problem I had was that they were pretty much the Hockey "pants" and made me look like a clown in a barrel. Not knocking the sport btw. Huge fan here. GO KNIGHTS! So then I've searched and searched everywhere and found these on Amazon and the description caught my eye. The level of protection and what became equally important to me, the areas of protection in the description did it for me. There was just one thing else to do...take a leap of faith and order these. I don't go by reviews and when people say, "wow, this one fits me perfectly" and, "these are amazing, the fit is perfect for my size," etc... If you're like me, you'd know that everyone can be 5'11", 4'5". 5'9" and so on but you either have a butt or a big butt and it could be flat, round, thick and whatever. You could also be size 29", 36", 27" in waist but do you wear your pants, undies, shorts over your belly or under? Anyway, I'm getting a little too philosophical here but what I'm just saying is that everyone's bodies are different and ordering online can be a challenge because you're not able to physically try the fit. I ordered these according to my size and they've been true to my size so how about this, rather than basing the size on your waist by the number of inches, based it on the size of what you normally get your underwear's in. The size chart is good enough. Don't base your decision on the comments. As for comfort, all I can say is...YASSSSS! Protection, all I can say is...YASSSSS! I've fallen at least a dozen times and WITHOUT fear of falling from the extra 3 inches above sea level (LOL). I'm 5'11" so add 3 inches to that, on top of being 227lbs (at the time of purchase, I'm 192 now), and I now skate with confidence and I once again know how to skate, LOL. I'll be ordering a smaller size soon cause why stop there? Just because I've gained muscle memory again doesn't mean I have to stop being safe right? OH, and speaking of size, these were perfectly hidden under my cargo shorts. They simply fitted nicely over my underwear and felt like a second layer of skin. I know that I said that I don't trust comments and reviews but at least trust my "journal" that I had just typed out and get them!
